Reducing mooring risk saves lives.
As ships get larger, infrastructure ages and the climate changes, the danger a ship breaking its mooring and causing the loss of equipment and/or life is a growing concern for harbour masters, engineers and port operators. As an industry, we need to get better at reducing this risk and the collective experience meeting at the 2022 IHMA Congress in Kuala Lumpur this June provides a unique platform to share best practice and explore the latest technology in optimizing port safety and operability.
Register for free to take advantage of benefiting from practical solutions, shared in an open and collegial environment designed to enhance the understanding of how to reduce this risk moving forwards.
Chaired by DHI technical specialists, the workshop will commence with an overview of mooring theory including the mechanics of mooring arrangements, wave-vessel interactions, the effects of larger ships and the increasing severity of weather events. This will be followed by a discussion of how a physics-based understanding can be used to manage risks in this area with practical examples from across the world. To collectively share ideas and processes, the audience will be invited to discuss the challenges and solutions currently used to help reduce risks in their ports.
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to view the latest mooring technology by visiting the 2022 IHMA Congress Exhibition.
